What's the deal with bibletools?
bibletools is a Bible reference app for searching, reading, and comparing scripture without turning every lookup into a new webpage. it is for the moment when you know you want to check a passage, compare a reading, or follow a thread through the text and do not want the interface to get in your way.
built for the lookup
it grew out of a command-line tool and still carries that sense of speed. hotkeys, commands, tabs, and instant search let you move around the Bible deliberately, while the graphical interface keeps it approachable.
keep multiple references open in one window, search for a passage or phrase, and move between readings without losing your place. the point is not to make study feel busy; it is to make the next useful action obvious.
underneath, bibletools is a C++ and SDL application compiled to WebAssembly with Emscripten. the current build is an actual interactive app running in your browser, rather than a form or a static webpage. it is roughly a 12 MB download and is currently intended for desktop browsers.
what to expect
bibletools is in alpha, but the web build is stable enough to use for real reference and study. this is a reference tool, not a commentary or a replacement for personal study.
the build available here is the desktop-oriented web alpha. native and mobile versions are part of the wider direction as the project continues.
